Non Duality: Meditations on the Aramaic Lords Prayer

I have become interested in discovering the original meaning and purpose of the Lords Prayer as a way of deepening my own understanding of the non-dual teachings of Jesus, and what I believe to be the Shamanic roots of Judo-Christianity along with the practices of unity, light working, prophecy and healing….One very recent and interesting discovery is this you-tube video of the Lords Prayer in Aramaic, said to be Jesus’ mother tongue. The prayer was given to us by Jesus himself in response to a request by the disciples during the Sermon on the Mount, and was the only prayer given by Jesus. Archaeological findings have revealed original manuscripts in Aramaic, have been found to be inaccurate when compared against later Greek and Latin translations. The words are translated directly from Aramaic to English a few paragraphs below.

How wonderful….The Aramaic Prayer, according to several translations starts with ‘Mother and Father of the Cosmos’ and not ‘Our Father’. In Aramaic there are no distinctions between  planes of being, or the earthly and the divine, and so, when Jesus spoke of the Kingdom of Heaven, He was referring to the entire Kingdom of God, all that is seen and unseen, meaning that there are no borders between mind, body and spirit and no limitations between our earthly and spiritual life, which may explain what is meant by texts such as Matthew 10:7/8 “As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”

As for this beautiful prayer of the heart…How could one not be completely captivated? The sounds flow like a river through the heart, singing an eternal song of the forever sustaining love and wisdom of our Mother and Father of the Cosmos. Through love, may we lose our separateness, returning home to our spiritual parentage to live as enlightened children of light, the song of prayer forever seals in our own hearts the eternal desire to live in union with all creation…..

Aramaic is said to be a poetic language like Hebrew and Arabic, with many subtle levels of meaning and significance and sounds more like a ‘Yoga’ (meaning “to add”, “to join”, “to unite”, or “to attach”) In its original version the Lords prayer is a mantra that sings the desire to unite with Mother and Father Cosmos, to lose our separateness, to become, to be non-dual….the goal of all spiritual seekers everywhere.

However, it would seem that few readers of “the Bible” (Hebrew/Christian scriptures) are inclined to look for the non-dual message within Christianity, which is a shame…..It appears that the Church does little to teach as Jesus may have intended, that is if the translation of the Aramaic Lords prayer is an accurate interpretation. There are so many spiritual seekers who are attracted by the teachings of Yoga and Buddhism and the goal of Advaita, or non-dualism. Seekers chant Om shanti shanti shanti, which means (Om) Everything that is and (Shanti) Peace in body, speech, and mind. This is a beautiful message, but then so is the Christian equivalent of  Maranatha which means come Lord. The Maranatha Chant is said Ma-ra-na-tha. Link here for pronunciation  This video says not to repeat out loud. Chanting the prayer out loud would be a good breathing exercise in the Yoga tradition!

Aramaic (phonetic), as spoken by Jeshua. (unable to comment on accuracy here!)

Translation from Aramaic to English (there are several interpretations, although the message is always similar)

 Father-Mother of the Cosmos,

Shimmering Light of All.

Focus your light within us as we breathe your Holy Breath.

Enter the sanctuary of our hearts,

Uniting us within the sacred rays of your power and beauty.

Let your hearts desire unite heaven and earth through our sacred union.

Help us fulfil what lies within the sphere of our lives today.

Forgive our secret fears as we freely choose

To forgive the secret fears of others.

Let us not enter forgetfulness, tempted by false appearances.

For from your astonishing Fire comes the eternal song.

Lords Prayer, common English translation

Our Father, Who art in heaven

Hallowed be Thy Name;

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. Amen.
